Bandit is doing well though a little sore. The doctors said everything went well. They removed a stone unlike anything they've seen before. It was nearly the size of a quarter with all ragged spikes on it. The spikes apparently what was causing the blood by scraping against his bladder. Additionally, while in there they found a polyp which they believe to be tissue build up from the abrasiveness of the stone against the bladder wall. They think the stone had been in there for over three years.
They're sending both the stone and the polyp out for analysis. The type of stone will determine what sort of diet he'll need to be on so that it doesn't recur; the polyp they want to rule out anything pre-cancerous.
I was concerned for up until about 10 minutes ago he hadn't urinated since I picked him up. The doctors said he had gone shortly after surgery but when I got him home and he would try to go he would yelp from the pain. Even this morning letting him out he'd start to go and then jump back as a zing of pain hit him. I took him for a short walk for I know it's hard for him to resist marking his territory. Finally, he went. Five in the morning, walking the dog. That's dedication.
Anyway here he is shortly after he got home yesterday, all nestled up on his favorite chair with his favorite sweatshirt.
