UFOs in Salem, Massachusetts

I've always been fascinated by UFOs, perhaps spawned by a secret wish for humankind to find life outside our planet, yet my analytical side screams skeptic. Recently here in Salem, there has been some rumblings about local sightings. I have not witnessed any but am posting these YouTube videos, filmed by students at Salem State College University (the recent name change still has me a fumble) for your own examination.  While I don't find these videos particularly compelling I do get a bit excited (for lack of a better word) about the prospects of seeing one.  I must say just the idea of them being local piques my curiosity.

Salem isn't new to the UFO scene. In 1952 there was quite a stir when this classic photo was captured.  Salem's power plant laid home to a smattering of sightings.

What do you think about UFOs and aliens from outer space? Fact or fiction? Thoughts on the videos?

There was a UFO sighting on January 27 or 28 of this year too. There are vids on YouTube of those sightings.

To answer your question; YES there's something out there, and I don't mean the grain circle makers.

Stoopid me, I forgot to tell where the sighting was. Jerusalem.

I really don't believe there are aliens out there. However I will say that a day or so before Christmas I was in Baton Rouge. A friend and I were going to lunch and he pointed out something odd in the sky. It was a small circle that was moving but not on a linear trajectory like a plane and far too fast to be a balloon. It zig zagged truly. We both saw it and neither of us could figure out what it was.

Oh I just think it is a matter of time that we either see or find evidence that aliens exist. It is very egotistical of us to think that we are the only ones in this huge universe.....we are but a speck. So, who knows? We may be lucky enough to witness UFO's and their creatures in our lifetime!

Of course there are aliens. Here in Nevada we have AREA 51 just outside of Las Vegas. When I drive from Reno down to LV I am always on the lookout. So far no sightings of my own.

It's arrogant to think that we are the lone higher intelligent species in the universe. I have seen bizarre things, too. Although they were filmed, the Louisiana State police reported them as "swamp gas."

Oh, sure, synchronized swamp gas! Seen by a few dozen people on a hot, humid evening on an abandoned road known as "dead man's curve" due to its poor design.

I still can't get over the notion it takes so many light years to get here, why would they bother?

@Peter - Jeru-salem...close!

@Hayward - strange sight I'm sure

@Jim - that would be quite the day

@Jeff - if you see one keep me posted

@Cajun - "synchronized swamp gas" that's a good one!

@Spo - yeah, that's something that would need to be overcome

Do I think that other life forms might/do exist somewhere else in this universe? Yep. Do I believe these are alien UFO's? Nope.
As for colleges shuffling some paper and administration and then calling themselves universities: it is a source of amusement for me. I have a degree from one of them. *giggle* There is (another) school in our area that did that. Given other factors about that school, that rates a downright, out-loud *guffaw* and not just a giggle. Changing your name in and of itself does not change the quality of your "product".

Unless an alien civilization has developed a "faster than light" technology it just doesn't seem practical to travel those vast distances. And our closest neighbor is 4 light years away. But on the other hand, how else do you explain all of the sightings throughout history? One of the "Discovery Channel" networks has a series called Ancient Aliens that provides some startling evidence....

@Lemuel - it would be quite a feat to travel here.

@Tiger - I've seen that Discovery show. It's quite compelling.

I've always been fascinated with life outside our planet. I do believe it exists. However, I don't believe in UFO's. I think they are all frauds. I think that the life that exists outside our earthly realm is like nothing we have ever imagined. I also believe that someday we will discover other forms of life in the solar system. I think that will happen within our lifetime. It is exciting to think of the possibilities.

I believe that there is life outside of our little Milky Way galaxy. However, I can't for the life of me figure out why they would want to visit here.

When will they come get me and take me home? Not kidding.
